Our Story

Hi there! I'm Monica, the co-owner & founder of Natural Nirvana! My Mother-In-Law and I started making all natural soap for ourselves because we have sensitive skin and just for fun. After gifting these items to our friends & family for Christmas, we soon realized this would be a great product to share with our local community and Natural Nirvana was born!

Here is a little background into me: I am 25 years old and live in Indiana with my partner and 3 animals (chocolate lab & 2 cats). I have always been very crafty and love trying new hobbies. I actually started making candles & soaps when I was around 11 years old and fell in love with it but got really busy with sports & school so I kinda fell out of it. 13 years later, I started a shop with my mother-in-law selling candles, soaps & more! Crazy how life works! Fun fact: I own another business, Luxury Lodging LLC, which is a corporate rental company and I started that when I was 22! 

Where does "Natural Nirvana" come from?

You might be wondering where the name “Natural Nirvana” comes from. The “Natural” part of the name is pretty self-explanatory. I have MANY skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis so there are not many soaps that smell and feel good on my skin. I wanted to change that personally but also help others with the same issue! 

The word “Nirvana” stems from a few points. I like the band Nirvana so it’s always been a name I love. I actually considered naming my dog that or a derivative of it like Niro or Vana. I didn’t end up going that route with my dog lol. 

Another reason is the meaning of the word Nirvana in Buddhism. The state of profound peace, liberation and mental transformation of the soul and psyche. Now I’m not Buddhist but I find the religion to be fascinating and resonate with much of it specifically the word Nirvana. One of my goals in life is to maintain internal peace with life and myself so it felt more personal and spiritual to put it into my business!
